Emerge for May 10 Election
Candidate Forum Set
for Monday, April 21
Filing
deadline for local elections was Monday, March 10….and
it is going to be a busy May election! At the last
minute, several people filed for several offices
producing one of the most hotly contested local
elections in several years.
Maher
Maso and Matt Lafata are the only two candidates who
filed for Mayor of Frisco (current Mayor Mike Simpson is
term-limited and will complete his term in office this
May). However, in the two open City Council positions,
FOUR candidates filed for EACH of the two spots.
Within
the FISD Board of Trustees, incumbents Richard Beaver
and Brenda Polk are being challenged by Jeremy Starritt
and Janet MacCubbin, respectively.
In
addition, the late-night ordinance will also be on the
ballot when the local election is held on Saturday, May
10.
All
of these candidates and issues will be invited to
participate in the Frisco Chamber of Commerce Candidate
Forum which has been set for Monday, April 21, beginning
at 6 p.m. The Forum will be held at the Event Center
of the Preston Ridge campus of Collin College.
Based on
the information currently available, the following
information (individual candidates listed in the order
in which they will appear on the ballot) will help
everyone obtain more information on the candidates
running in the May 10 election. As additional
information is obtained, such information and additional
analysis will be updated and posted here.
