Frisco Election
Yields Run-Off
City Council –
Place 5
The City of Frisco turned out
in record numbers for the May 10 election. When all of
the counting was done, the following races/measures had
been decided…..and one is yet to be decided!
Mayor - Maher Maso defeated
Matt Lafata to become Frisco’s new Mayor. Maso will be
sworn in as the new mayor on the evening of Tuesday, May
20, at the City Hall Council Chambers.
City Council – Place 5 – Tim
Nelson and Bart Crowder were the top vote-getters in
this race; however, neither took a majority of the vote
(over 50%). As a result, Tim Nelson and Bart
Crowder will be in a Run-off Election on Saturday, June
14. In anticipation of this event, the
Frisco Chamber of Commerce will hold a Candidate Forum
for Place 5 – City Council on Thursday, May 29,
beginning at 6 p.m. at the Frisco Chamber of Commerce.
City Council – Place 6 – Scott
Johnson will be one of the two new City Council
members. Johnson will be sworn into office on the
evening of Tuesday, May 20, at City Hall Council
Chambers.
The Late-Night Hours ordinance
was defeated by a vote of 57% to 43%.
Within the FISD School Board
races, incumbents Richard Beaver and Brenda Polk won
re-election.
Congratulations to all of
Frisco for turning out for this crucial election;
however, we urge you to please come out and vote again
on Saturday, June 14. The final City Council position
is yet to be decided and these two candidates deserve
for you to come back out and show that same voter
involvement that you showed on May 10.
