Welcome to the Frisco Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!)
“Start as a Student, Finish as a CEO”
Frisco Young Entrepreneur Academy (YEA) application process for the 2016 – 2017 year has closed.
Frisco High Student Wins Top Prize from YEA! Investment Panel
Several Frisco ISD middle and high school students presented their bright ideas for new products or services before a panel of investors supporting Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), an educational program sponsored by the Frisco Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Frisco ISD.
The Chamber works with educators, business leaders and many others to promote a spirit of entrepreneurship and help students launch their own real businesses.
This year, investors provided $8,000 to be divided among the student winners.
The top honor this year was awarded to 16-year-old Bethani DeMaria, a junior at Frisco High School. DeMaria presented her idea for including a hand wipe with packaging for messy snacks such as Nacho Cheese Doritos. She will represent Frisco YEA! at the regional competition as well.

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy, or YEA!, is a groundbreaking educational program that takes students, ages 11 to 18, through the process of starting and running real businesses/social movements over the course of a full academic year. Students work in close cooperation with local leaders of industry, community members, and educators to develop ideas and objectives, write business plans, pitch potential investors for real money, register with governmental agencies, develop their brand identity, participate in a tradeshow, and much more! By the end of the class, students own and operate fully functioning businesses that can be carried on after graduation. Students learn to make a job–not just take a job! YEA!’s direct mission is to help students embrace their passion, energy, creativity and talents, launch a venture, and view entrepreneurship as synonymous with success and freedom.

The Frisco Chamber of Commerce was the first chamber of commerce in Texas to offer the Young Entrepreneurs Academy. YEA! was originally launched at the University of Rochester in 2004. With support from the Kauffman Foundation in 2008, YEA! spun off from the university level and was offered to local chambers of commerce to help bridge the gap between an area’s education and business communities. YEA! continues on a path of sustained growth, and is well on its way to making experiential entrepreneurship education available to students in each and every corner of our great country. With over 1,394 students enrolled within 57 program sites across 24 states in 2012, YEA! continues to empower each and every student across the nation to embrace their passion, live their dream, and change the world! Now, in our third year, the Frisco YEA! program is taking applications for motivated, engaged, and passionate students who live within the City of Frisco.
