My name is Alison Boehmer and I am a senior at Austin College. I am also a contracted student researcher on a federally-funded collaborative research project between Austin College's esteemed economics professor, Dr. Kevin Simmons, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Under the Weather Research and Forecasting Innovation Act of 2017, H.R. 353, our research is charged with the task of better understanding firm behavior in the face of severe weather, given various warning systems.
